Yay for talking! (and teeth!)
So on Nov 2, Deedle turns 17 months, and this last month of October has been a word explosion over here!
Words she said in September:
ball (first word!), bear, baby, bee
Words she has said in October (almost in order of their appearance):
mama, dada, hi, bye-bye, eye, moon, up, down, apple, meow (for cat), baa (for sheep), moo (for cow), star, car, pig, dog, duck (this one just last night for her bath duckie)
Yippee!
She's also most definitely getting her first molars, looks like all four of them at once. Yea for teeth! Here is a chart on how teeth are supposed to come in:

Another Summer Adventure
Here are pictures from an "Apple Picking Playdate," August 2008. It was at the home of one of the ladies in my Mom's group with a small Gravenstein apple orchard on the property. One of the gals who was there is a professional photographer and took these pictures:

Adventures!
We have had lots of adventures this summer since I joined a Mom's group! Since the goal of this blog is to try to do a better job of keeping you, my dear friends and family, in the loop with Deedlebug's achievements, I'd better get posting! Where shall I begin? Let's go all the way back to July and a playdate we had at the local park. Deedle was 13 months old at the time, and "cruising" (walking while holding on to things), and not yet walking independently.

Karma: what goes around, comes around
What comes around: I have been so blessed and lucky to have many, many items given to me for my daughter. Clothes, toys, books, strollers and other gear... a car seat! The generosity amazes me and makes me humble. I am very thankful.
Goes around: My mothers' group had a stuff swap recently and I was able to pass on things that we have outgrown here. I also was able to get more clothes in the next size up, and warm for the winter. After the swap, there were "leftover" items. I gathered them all up and kept the karma going today with a donation of clothing, toys, books, and such to the local YWCA battered women's shelter. It felt really good to know that I was helping some ladies and families start a new life. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to escape from a situation with the clothes on your back, because any planning to leave might be discovered and could cost you your life. I hope my modest contribution (on behalf of the group) will make a difference.

Joining the 21st Century
Well, this is it. I am entering the world of blogging. I have several intentions that brought me to this, mainly to share updates about my little daughter with friends and family. I also am frequently struck by random thoughts that I would like to share, but the constraints of time and place limit me. Hopefully this will be all that, and more!
